Greenery adds warmth and charm to your favorite spaces in any season. When you order artificial wreaths and garlands, keep in mind that most come compressed and packed in boxes. Shaping the greenery allows you to achieve the desired fullness. Learn quick and easy tips with our guide on how to fluff wreaths and garlands.

How to Unbox Your Wreath and Garland

Step 1  |   Find the side labeled for opening.

Step 2  |  Open the flap and carefully slide out your Balsam Hill® wreath or garland.

Step 3  |  If needed, keep the box for storage. For lighted Christmas wreaths and garlands set aside the extra bulbs included in the packaging.

    Insider’s Tip

Large artificial wreaths measuring 48" and above come folded in two. Unfold the wreath to reveal its frame. On the back of the wreath, you'll find two latches to secure the folded sections together. Watch the demonstration video here.

How to Fluff an Artificial Wreath

Step 1  |  Lay the wreath on a sturdy tabletop and place one hand on the frame to hold your Christmas wreath in place.

Step 2  |  Use your free hand to shape the tips. Start with the bottom layer and work your way up and inward.

Step 3  |  Shape each tip in the same direction and lift them to create layers of foliage.

Step 4  |  Slightly curve the tips to fill in gaps and create a smooth, rounded silhouette.

Step 5  |  After shaping, stand back and check your work. Adjust any stray tips.

Step 6  |  For pre-lit and decorated holiday wreaths, adjust the tips to make sure the lights or accents are visible.

    Insider’s Tip

For DIY Christmas wreaths, fluff the foliage first before adding your own embellishments. Find inspiration for decorating traditional greenery here.

Step 3  |  Shape tips in the same direction. Lift them to create layers.

Step 4  |  Gently adjust the leaves and petals of the flowers for a fuller look.

Step 5  |  After fluffing, compare your product with the photo. Adjust stray flowers or accents.
