Since 2006, families around the world have welcomed Balsam Hill into their homes with our premium, lifelike artificial Christmas trees. Today, with trees still being our passion, we’ve expanded into greenery and heirloom quality décor offering customers more ways to celebrate their holiday traditions in their own unique way.

2006The year it all began
When our founder, Mac Harman, searched for a realistic artificial Christmas tree for a family member who was allergic to real trees, he came up short. He started to imagine how artificial Christmas trees could mimic nature, and from there, Balsam Hill was born.

2012Across the pond and beyond
After launching in the UK in 2011, Balsam Hill expands to Germany, France, and down under in Australia.

2013From mailbox to showroom
Our first Balsam Hill catalog is launched with much success and the Balsam Hill Outlet opens in Burlingame, California.

2014A tree to flip for
Balsam becomes the exclusive home of the Flip Tree®, a revolutionary advance in artificial tree technology.

2016Merry traditions with Macy’s
Balsam Hill debuts a wondrous float called, "Deck the Halls," in the 90th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, a tradition that will continue to delight fans for years to come.

2024A year of firsts
The first Balsam Hill Studio™ store opens on the island of Maui offering handcrafted, vacation-themed ornaments. Balsam Hill Canada also launches, and Balsam Hill enters the sports arena as the official Christmas tree of the Detroit Lions.

2025Looking ahead
The launch of our NextGen landing page on balsamhill.com showcases our path towards sustainability.
In 2006, when Mac was selling his first lineup of trees at a local shopping mall, customers would see this tree in the window, touch the lifelike branches, and ask why he was selling “fresh-cut trees” in a shopping mall storefront. It was this tree that gave him the confidence to start Balsam Hill, and today, it continues to be a customer favorite.

Driven by innovation, we’re working toward more sustainable solutions for the next generation.
"By 2030, our goal is to recycle one million trees as we work toward a circular economy for artificial trees. There’s lots we’ve learned, and lots more to do." - Mac Harman
For 20 years, we’ve brought the spirit of the season to life through partnerships with Macy’s, the Detroit Lions, Hallmark, and more.
