Displaying wreaths and garlands can elevate any Christmas décor, but doing so without causing damage is often the challenge. To help, we’ve outlined six easy ways to hang artificial greenery without leaving permanent marks behind.
If you want to hang a wreath without nails, adhesive or Command hooks are a simple solution. They are easy to remove and reposition on doors, walls, and staircases without leaving damage behind. For mirrors or windows, choose clear hooks to keep the look clean and seamless.

Step 1
Clean and dry the surface before applying the adhesive hook. This helps improve adhesion and keeps the hook securely in place.
Step 2
Hang your Christmas garland or wreath in place. For extra stability, add a second hook at the bottom of the wreath for added support.

Step 1
Attach the adhesive hook to the handrail.
Step 2
Hang the wreath securely. For extra stability, place a second hook at the bottom of the wreath.
Step 3
For garlands, space the Command hooks evenly along the railing or wall. Make sure there is enough support at the centre and at both ends of the garland to keep it securely in place.

Step 4
Fluff the foliage to conceal the hooks and create a natural, finished look.
Step 5
To keep your greenery secure, fasten it with clear zip ties, jute string, or garland ties.
Garlands should be about twice the length of your handrails to allow for graceful draping. Wreaths typically look best when they measure about 50 to 75% of the baluster’s height.
Transparent nylon fishing line or cord is strong, versatile, and nearly invisible from a distance. This makes it one of the most effective ways to hang a garland securely without using nails.

Step 1
Place an adhesive hook on the inside of the door, positioned above eye level with the hook facing downward.
Step 2
Tie one end of the nylon cord securely around the hook. Make sure the cord is long enough to pass over the top of the door and hold the wreath at your preferred height on the outside.
Step 3
Tie the other end of the nylon cord securely around the wreath. Then hang the wreath by suspending it from the inside of the door.

Step 1
Begin at the bottom of the stairs. Wrap the cord around one end of the garland and the top of the banister, then tie it in a secure knot to hold everything in place.
Step 2
Do the same with the other end of the garland.
Step 3
Tie the centre of the garland to the stair rail closest to the landing to create a graceful draping effect.
Step 4
Fluff the foliage to hide the nylon string once the garland is in place.

Hanging wreaths with ribbon or natural twine is a simple and effective Christmas decorating idea. It provides secure support while adding a stylish finishing touch to your holiday décor.
Step 1
Loop one end of the ribbon through the centre of the wreath.
Step 2
Tie both ends of the ribbon together with a tight knot.
Step 3
Locate a surface with a hook, then hang the wreath securely in place.

Craft wire offers more strength than ribbon or nylon, making it a reliable option for heavier décor. If you’re looking for a secure way to hang a wreath over a mantel, this is one of the best materials to use.
Step 1
Loop the craft wire through the back frame of the wreath.
Step 2
Use the loop to hang the wreath on a peg or hook, then twist the wire to secure it in place.
Step 3
Cover the craft wire with a decorative ribbon to make it less visible.

Many wreath hangers are designed to fit standard doors and feature sturdy steel frames that support heavier greenery without damaging the surface. Some styles are adjustable, allowing you to customize the height of your display.
Step 1
Clean and dry the surface before applying the adhesive hook. This helps improve adhesion and keeps it securely in place.
Step 2
Hang your Christmas garland or wreath. Use another hook at the bottom of the wreath for added support.
Use double door wreath hangers to display wreaths on both sides of your door.

If you’re looking for a way to hang a garland on a fireplace mantel or outside your door without using nails, a garland hanger is a practical solution. Balsam Hill garland hangers use spring tension, so there’s no need to drill into surfaces. They’re also available for both single and double doors.
Step 1
Mount the garland hanger, then adjust it to fit the width of your display area.
Step 2
Loop the garland over the centre and corners of the garland hanger.
Step 3
Adjust the garland to suit your door or mantel, then fluff the foliage to complete the look.
To hang Christmas garland without nails, use adhesive hooks such as Command hooks, light clips, or garland hangers. You can also tie ribbon or twine to existing fixtures like banisters or door frames. For smooth surfaces, clear tape or hot glue applied over painter’s tape can work well. On brick or door frames, C-clamps or tension-mounted rods are reliable alternatives.
You can hang a Christmas wreath without nails by using an over-the-door hanger, an adhesive hook placed on the inside or outside of the door, or a suction cup hook on smooth surfaces. Another option is to thread a ribbon through the wreath and drape it over the top of the door, securing it on the inside with tape or a small hook.
Removable adhesive hooks, suction cups, and over-the-door hangers are great options for hanging Christmas decorations without damaging walls. These methods hold décor securely and can be removed after the holidays without leaving holes or peeling paint.
To decorate outdoors without nails, use adhesive hooks, gutter clips, vinyl siding clips, or suction cup hooks for lights and wreaths on smooth surfaces. Garlands can be tied to railings or posts with ribbon or twine or secured with heavy-duty double-sided tape for added stability.
Adhesive hooks usually do not adhere well to rough or porous brick surfaces. For brick walls, brick clips or specially designed outdoor hangers are a better choice. These options grip the brick securely without drilling or causing damage.
